about

16 years after the release of "BEATS!!!! Vol.1" Markey Funk digs deep into his vaults to unleash further chapters in the series, which offer a look behind the scenes at his formative years. Each chapter provides a different angle on Markey's creative world and adds the long-missing context within his discography, spanning now two decades.

The fourth chapter features beats produced for the Ukrainian-born rapper Boiler, whom Markey first met on the cult internet forum Hip-Hop.Ru. Following numerous conversations and meetings, the two started working together on their first tracks in late 2004. Driven by the shared love of sci-fi, futurism and a great deal of sarcasm regarding mainstream rap of the time, they developed a distinctive minimalistic sound that put plenty of focus on Boiler's flow and lyrics.

Many of these instrumentals were developed into full songs, as the two were working on a full album. Unfortunately, just like the rest of Markey's work at the time, the dramatic hard-drive crash put an end to their collaboration, as much of the material was unrecoverable. Ultimately, three songs from this period appeared on Boiler's only album "Гвоздь Программы" ("The Show's Highlight", 2011), rearranged and upgraded by Maestro A-Sid. This compilation, however, offers a look at Boiler-Markey Funk sound at its rawest and most primary, as well as hints at directions, explored by Markey in later years.
